		Watermelon Man offers an interesting insight not only to racism in America but to the nuances of human nature as well.
		Although Watermelon Man was not the first film to deal with racism, it was still revolutionary in how it dealt with the issue of the privilege that comes along with white skin in our society.

		He’s gleefully attacking mainstream white America, first with the horror-show scene of miscegenation where this fl man is able to satisfy this white woman in a way he wouldn’t be able to white (the picture exploits fl sexual myths while condemning them), and secondly by pigeon-holing this woman as really being like all the racists.

		This is really "Watermelon Man The Third." Herbie Hancock recorded his first big hit when he was in his early 20s and starting to gain fame as a new member of Miles Davis' quintet.
		Truthfully, at that time, most people had never heard of Hancock and fewer still heard his records.
		"Watermelon Man" was the most successful of these re-recordings, probably because of its pop history, but also because the piece lent itself to the new fusion style.
