Watkins Glen State Park is in western New York, in the village of Watkins Glen, at the southern tip of Seneca Lake.
Watkins Glen contains several small waterfalls, and is a really amazing place especially for those who like the sight and sound of rock and water.
The park includes a campground, a large picnic area, swimming pool, etc. but the main attraction are the trails through the Glen, particularly the gorge trail.

Watkins Glen State Park is located on the edge of the village of Watkins Glen, New York, south of Seneca Lake in Schuyler County.
Watkins Glen State Park is in a 400 foot deep narrow gorge cut through rock by a stream that was left hanging, when glaciers of the Ice age deepened the Seneca valley, increasing the tributary stream gradient to create rapids and waterfalls (wherever there were hard layers of rock).
Watkins Glen is in New York's Finger Lakes region, at the southern tip of Seneca Lake and west of Ithaca.

Watkins Glen State Park is easy to find; the main entrance is on the southeastern side of the village of Watkins Glen on State Route 14.
Watkins Glen State Park began to form, park literature says, some 12,000 years ago as huge glaciers from Canada excavated a trough in an ancient river valley, ultimately creating Seneca Lake.
To this day, water from Glen Creek continues its reshaping of the gorge, which was opened to the public in 1863 by Morvalden Ells, a journalist from Elmira, N.Y. Since 1924, the park has been state-owned.

What a pleasant vacation it was when I found Watkins Glen while surfing for a bed and breakfast in the Finger Lakes Region of New York State.
We went to the Watkins Glen State Forest and was stunned to find the most scenic series of waterfalls and gorges.
We didn't pick up the map at the entrance gate to the park and thus didn't know there was an option to walk up the gorge or take the shuttle to the rear and walk down it.

In all, Watkins Glen is a relatively large state park, immensely tidy and orderly with huge and prolific trees, and wonderful paved but narrow roads, perfect for forcing lower speeds among motorists, and perfect for bicycling.
The terrain in the park is extremely hilly, in fact in my home-town Ontario terms, nearly mountainous, so biking in the park is a perfect workout.
In general, I was somewhat disappointed by the commercial tone of the countryside surrounding Watkins Glen.
