Inmates Transferred In a recommendation to the county board by Matt Howitt, chairman of the county board, recommended that the inmates of the old county farm be transferred to the new county asylum farm as soon as possible and that the old farm be sold.
In a report of the trustees of the Waukesha county asylum farm to the county board they said that three days prior to November 1, 1903, the county poor were removed from the poor farm in the town of Vernon and placed in the asylum building which had just been completed.
Waukesha county asylum now has a population of 225 patients and over 700 patients have been registered in since that time.

Waukesha County Executive Dan Finley is irritated that immigration agents so far are unwilling to get involved, especially after the recent deportation of a local business owner from India who attracted police attention by getting a flat tire.
But not all county officials are comfortable with trying to deport Lala, who is described in court documents as diabetic, blind in one eye and paralyzed on the left side from a stroke she suffered in November.
Her temporary guardian told a Waukesha County judge that Lala was too sick to leave her Brookfield hospital bed for a court appearance in Waukesha.

The County Superintendent was expected to visit each school/district at least once a year (by 1880 there were approx 90 separate school districts i Waukesha County, in 1900, 115) and "help" them in the right direction.
Each school district was required to prepare a report of their yearly activities, and in turn, The County Superintendent prepared a county report from these, which was submitted to the Wisconsin State Superintendent of Schools; then an annual convention would be held for the County Superintendents.
In fact, their certificates were only valid in the issuing county, and in no other; limiting opportunities, and creating teacher shortages in some districts.

 ALA | Libraries in Waukesha County Escape a Tax Cap, for Now
The 16 public libraries in Wisconsin’s Waukesha County could enjoy a funding increase as high as 8% in 2004, thanks to the defeat by county supervisors of a measure to limit property tax increases to 2.6% in most departments.
Currently, Waukesha County collects taxes from communities without libraries and distributes the funds to the 16 libraries according to a formula established by a county ordinance that would have to be suspended in order to impose a tax cap.
However, county supervisors will again need to consider suspending it when they act on the county’s lean $236-million budget proposal.

Work is scheduled to begin June 20 on a $1.4 million contract to improve 0.2 miles of County JJ between County T and Morris Street, and the County JJ bridge over WIS 16 in Pewaukee.
At least one lane of traffic on WIS 16 and County JJ will remain open during peak hours in all directions for the duration of the project.
Temporary signals will be installed at the County T/County JJ intersection until the new traffic signals are installed.

Q: This past spring, in a well-publicized decision, the County voted against a land use change that would have allowed Aurora to build an eighty-five bed, $88 Million hospital in Western Waukesha County.
Advocates argued it was needed and would be good for business, opponents argued our health care costs are already too high, and an unneeded hospital would place an unnecessary burden on health care consumers, both business and residents alike.
