Waverley Borough Council (the local planning authority), supported by local residents, CPRE Surrey, Guildford and Godalming Friends of the Earth and other organisations, took the enforcement action in defence of the Green Belt in an Area of Great Landscape Value (AGLV) that is highly visible from the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).
CPRE Surrey's view, shared by Waverley Borough Council and local residents, is that the polytunnels, mobile homes and related equipment at Tuesley constitute an unsightly development that damages important open countryside of distinctive character and beauty.
In 2005, the polytunnels at Tuesley Farm covered a maximum area of 39 hectares (95 acres) at any one time and 60 hectares (147 acres) cumulatively and were in place in different locations from March to November.

Basically, they were concrete pyramids, two to three feet high, that would be installed in or around a ditch as a barrier to tanks.
In this part of Surrey, they were placed either side of a shallow river, and they remain in place today, overgrown and forgotten, but a living reminder of how close the Nazis came to invading Britain in 1940.
These Dragon's Teeth have been removed from their original site and placed by the path that leads to the Abbey, which can be seen in the distance in the right-hand photo.
