Liverpool Wavertree is a constituency represented in the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom.
An earlier Liverpool Wavertree constituency existed until 1983; this seat was a safe Conservative seat.
While the Conservatives have fared badly in the new Wavertree constituency (polling under 7% in the 2005 general election), it is perhaps not a fair comparison, as the new constituency covers a different area, with more inner-city areas.

Loading the new timber on the "WAVERTREE", in her present position alongside the "PEKING", presents some difficult problems; there is no hoisting gear aboard the ship that can safely lift and control the timber even if it were floated out to the vessel.
The fore and aft standing rigging on the "WAVERTREE" is shackled or pinned directly to the deck pads through iron deck cringles, unlike later windjammers, which were fitted with rigging screws on fore and aft stays.
The "WAVERTREE" appears in photographs to be fitted with wire pendants, shackled to the head cringle of the sail, for the first twenty feet of staysail/jib halyard.

Wavertree was built at Southhampton, England in 1885 for R.W. Leyland and Company of Liverpool, one of the last large sailing ships built of wrought iron.
Wavertree was first employed to carry jute, used in making rope and burlap bags, between eastern India (now Bangladesh) and Scotland.
Wavertree is currently undergoing restoration to her appearance as a sailing vessel.

The Village of Wavertree is one of the oldest villages in the neighbourhood of Liverpool.
In prehistoric times there must have been a settlement in Wavertree as a burial site was found in Victoria Park some 150 years ago, during excavation work for the building of new houses.
In 1793 land was acquired by a group of local gentlemen and merchants and in 1794, with the agreement of the Bishop of Chester, the Wavertree Chapel at Ease to Childwall Church was built, designed by John Hope.
