Wayism - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The People of the Way, commonly called Wayism, is a fictional religion from the Andromeda universe.
Rev Bem, a recurring character, is a Wayist.
As the Tao means the Way, the Chinese religion and philosophy called Taoism in English could be translated as Wayism, though it should be noted that the Chinese term has a far more abstracted and philosophical meaning than the English one.

Rev Bem is at constant war with his own Magog nature, and it's only the force of his faith that gives him the gentleness and discipline needed to overcome his instincts to kill and devour his crewmate friends, or make them the unwilling hosts for his progeny.

Third wayers seem to be unapolagetic second way statists who recomended all of the failed policies of recent history and look to 'third wayism' as a kind of face saving mechanism.
Without being realistic regarding the limitations of the state and it potential for abuse, third wayism is a dead end, just another ism bound to create more problems than it solves.
The US government is not constituted for 'third wayism' nor was it constituted for new deal social statism.

It is another to tell people they are a part of an exlusive group that is "chosen" by a deity, and not expect at least some who believe they are "chosen" by this deity to not act in a potentially violent manner towards those who are "not chosen".
THAT is the dangerous idea of "one-wayism"- and NOT the more innocuous claim that one simply believes his/her religion to be the "correct one".
Secondly The widely held missperception of one wayism stems from ignorance of the bible.

The other significant change since the Commonwealth's fall has been the conversion of some Magog to the new religion of Wayism (see People of the Way, Political Formations).

Although Clinton did not make a big thing about Third Wayism in his domestic politics, that's where it got its start – in fact, in the Democratic Leadership Council, which was headed by Clinton and was such a help to him as he began his initial successful campaign for the presidency in 1992.
Its cornerstone was the notion that the route to successful campaigning and governing was to strike something of a middle route – a Third Way – between more-doctrinaire Democrats and Republicans, appealing to centrists in each party.
All the while, Third Wayism was cloaked in the attractive-sounding phrases typical of this recent description by Clinton, himself:

BrothersJudd Blog: THERE'S ONLY ONE WAY ANYMORE (via Kevin Whited):
However it might more appropriately labeled "domestic policy centrism," "pragmatism," or "third wayism," because (a) it's so different from traditional conservatism; and (b) when push comes to shove, Bush's desire to solve the problem at hand tends to take precedence over the desire to uphold conservative principles.
Note that the two "conservative" gripes with President Bush's Third Wayism are that it solves problems, rather than adhering to utopian ideology, and that Bill Clinton (successful two term president) and Tony Blair (most successful British PM since the 19th century) share it.
Judd adopts another of the standard Leftist tactics, that of eliding key phrases to tar his opponents with a straw man. The key phrase missing here is "short-term".

It never seemed to me that Blair, Clinton, or any other center-left poltician had found a third way.
Third wayism seemed like little more than traditional leftism coupled with an occasional nod in the direction of protecting national security and the realization that, if the power of government were to be increased, it would have to been done more subtly than before so as to circumvent popular opposition.
Now, however, the outlines of a genuine third way may be emerging -- the brain-child, ironically enough, of President Bush and his advisers.
