Blue handles everything here with ease, be it E.G. Kight's "Trouble With a Capital 'T'," the double entendre-laden "Tool Box Blues," the slow groove "From the Delta to the Golden Gates" (a tribute to John Lee Hooker), the funky "Cheatin' Blues," and even a song from the Janis Joplin catalog ("Turtle Blues").
There might only be one straight blues number on this record ("Down the Road A Piece," recorded in 1970 with Willie Dixon and the Chicago All Stars, featuring Carey Bell and Sunnyland Slim), but there is not one track that is further than one wobbly step from the blues, or some kind of roots music.
It is a mixture of contemporary blues and RandB/soul.
