Wayne Cao (Born Nguyễn Cao Cảo, known as "Cao-boy") is an Albertan politician representing the electoral division of Calgary Fort in the Legislative Assembly of Alberta since 1997.
Cao is a member of the Progressive Conservative party.
Cao is perhaps best known for introducing the Alberta Official Song Act in the legislature during his second term.

Cao is a past director of Kimson Consulting Services and Canadasia Management Consulting, a past chair of the Data Warehouse Technology Special Interest Group of the Canadian Information Processing Professional Society, past member of the Data Processing Management Association of America.
Cao has established his home in Calgary for the last 29 years with his wife Kim Hoang, an engineer and banking professional, and their three sons: William (MBA and Law, University of Calgary), Winston (Engineer, University of Waterloo), Ulysses (Bio-Chemist, Queen’s University).

In that race, Cao defeated Liberal Shirley-Anne Reuben by 1,593 votes.
In an eight-way race in 2001, Cao garnered 6,740 votes to Liberal Brian Huskins' 2,004, while the five lowest vote-getters tallied fewer than 600 votes combined.

Cao goes on to point out that although Alberta has a number of official emblems that reflect the “grandeur” of our province such as the Bighorn Sheep and the Petrified Wood Stone, an official song will go deeper and stay in the hearts of Albertans at home and abroad.
Cao a vote of thanks for having the moxie to stand up and follow Newfoundland’s fearless precedent.
