Wayne County is a county located in the state of Ohio.
In the county, the population is spread out with 27.40% under the age of 18, 9.80% from 18 to 24, 27.80% from 25 to 44, 22.70% from 45 to 64, and 12.20% who are 65 years of age or older.
Elections are administered in each county by a four-member board of elections which consists of two Republicans and two Democrats appointed by the Ohio Secretary of State at the recommendation of each county party.

Wooster, Ohio is located on the western edge of the glaciated Allegheny Plateau in central Wayne County in Northeastern Ohio (Figure 3) (White, 1967).
Wooster, Ohio draws water from both bedrock and buried valley aquifers; bedrock aquifers are located in the uplands, and the buried valley aquifer is located in the Killbuck Valley (Crowell, 1979).
Ohio still has an abundance of oil and gas wells throughout the state, each of which is accompanied by brine (Figure 5) Brine, an unwanted byproduct of oil and gas drilling and production operations, is composed of groundwater, salt, and volatile organic compounds (Kell et al., 2001).

The invasion of the gypsy moth from the eastern counties in 1996 suggested that many native species of moths and butterflies might be eradicated either by the defoliation of host plants by this pest or by the detrimental effects of chemical control of the pest.
The objective of this bulletin is to record for posterity the species of butterflies, skippers, and moths that have been collected in Wayne County, Ohio, as of the year 2000.

 How They Got to Darke County, Ohio
Before the final settlement of the Indian claims with the Treaty of Greenville in 1795, Darke County was part of the Indiana Territory (Knox County).
In 1803, Ohio was granted statehood and lands now called Darke County were administered by Montgomery County.
It is somewhat astonishing today to realize that in 1817 Darke County extended all the way to the border with Michigan and lands now administered by Mercer, Van Wert, Paulding, Defiance, and Williams counties were once considered part of Darke County.
