Hulagu Khan Hulagu Khanhoolä´goo khän, 1217-65, Mongol conqueror, grandson of Jenghiz Khan.
The completion of the mosque Wazir Khan may be said to close the chapter of this particular style of Mughal architecture at Lahore.

Wazir Khan's Mosque is in the old city, 300 meters from Dehli Gate.
It was built in 1634 by Hakim Ali-ud-din, popularly known as Wazir Khan, who was governer of the area during the reign of Shah Jahan.
The Mosque is justifiably famous for the colorful fresco and tile decoration which adorn both interior and exterior of the building.

It was here that he first saw Nourmahal, in a boat on the Ravee, which flows under its walls, and now past his tomb, for his body was brought from Bember, at the foot of the hills, where he died, on the road from Cashmere, in 1627.

The Wazir Khan Mosque is considered to be a magnificent example of Mughal architecture, and is covered entirely with arabesque paintings and lacquered tiles.
Another part of the mosque that had lost its original grandeur was the exterior of south and north sides of prayer chamber, facing the bazaar.
As for Wazir Khan's Mosque, it should be seen in the setting sun, when tiles seem to glow and an exotic tinge is added to its surroundings.

Thanks Asad...yes, I also think that this mosque is prettier than the Badshai Mosque...though I haven't seen the Badshahi Mosque fully from inside yet...but from what I have seen, this mosque is much more colorful and has a unique style of architecture....I only wish it was maintained as well as the Badshahi Mosque...
