  Weapons Qualification Badge - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Weapons Qualification Badges are issued in three levels (in descending order): Expert, Sharpshooter, and Marksman.
Once a qualification has been obtained, and the weapons qualification badge issued, the badge may be worn for the remainder of a military career, or until a different level of qualification (higher or lower) is achieved.
The Marksmanship Ribbon and Marksmanship Medal are issued by the remainder of the United States military branches to denote weapons qualifications.

At the bottom of the badge were two rings for the suspension of dated award bars for 1887, 1888, and 1889.
A second type badge in silver suspended from an ornate target bar (similar to the Federal marksman collar insignia of 1876 to 1902).
