In January 1987, Wearside Jack was back in the news as the Sunday Express published an article that claimed the tape had been sent to George Oldfield by a police officer as a protest/joke at what the hoaxer thought was the mishandling of the case.
She also remembered the Wearside man his was with, and believes that the man was responsible for the letters and tape and was an accomplice of Sutcliffe's in the murder of Joan Harrison.
