	Dusty Groove America - Jazz LP (T-Z and Various)
		This is Larry Young's first (and best) LP with his group Fuel -- the hard-jamming funky fusion combo that he hit big with after playing around in the underground for a few years during the early 70s.
		An excellent double LP collecting a number of sides cut live over a period of a few months by Tapscott's West Coast version of the Arkestra.
		The LP includes an amazing 13 minute take on his cut "Manuel Deeghit", plus a 7 minute version of "The Prophet", and a 6 minute version of Joao Donato's excellent cut "Amazonas".

	The Chater Report
		After the oil tanks were drained on June 30th the Vacuum Oil Co. report that they filled into the tanks 60 gallons of Stanavo 120 0il, and this was carried during the test flight before mentioned.
		However, no time signal was received until well past the period allotted, when the Malabar station called CQ and reported there was a fault on the line from the Observatory and so they had been unable to transmit the time signal.
		These reports were then transmitted by the Lae Operator by radio telephone during each hourly transmission time arranged by Miss Earhart until 5.20 p.m.

	1997 Storm Chase Summary
		I'm doing the 2nd trip (a couple of tornadoes, quite a few supercells, an LP day, etc) and should have it done soon.
		This 1st trip report is a little rough and might have a few errors here and there but I wanted to get it out as soon as I could.
		The one to the north had reports of baseball hail and an ESE movement..right of the mean flow.

		The fighter pilots reported seeing two people who they thought were crew members trying to bring the plane under control to keep it from crashing, a government spokesman said.
		They also said they could see through the cabin windows that oxygen masks had dropped from the ceiling of the plane, and witnesses at the crash site reported that oxygen masks were still attached to some of the passengers' faces.
		The pilots of the Helios jet had reported an air conditioning problem after takeoff, and a passenger sent a text message to his cousin saying it was freezing in the plane.

		In a setback to the Bush administration's anti-terrorism policies, a federal appeals court ruled Thursday that the president does not have the power to detain an American citizen seized on U.S. soil as an enemy combatant.
		In a 75-page decision, a three-judge panel of the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals voted 2-1 that the U.S. government must release Jose Padilla from military custody within 30 days.
		In its ruling Thursday, the court said it was not addressing the detention of any U.S. citizens seized within a zone of combat in Afghanistan, the AP reported.

		The Live LP is a fine return to form, although they never again really did anything as unique and as wonderful ar their first LP.
		Though some of their efforts are shockingly derivative (one track borrows heavily from Weather Report's "Boogie Woogie Waltz", another rips off WR's "Teen Town"!), the band's abilities in the jazz arena have increased to the point that they can get by with merely serviceable tunes (as long as the solos cook!).
		Besides Weather Report, other useful comparisons would include Pierre Moerlen's Gong, To Be, Kraan (less the vocals), the last edition of the Release Music Orchestra, Missus Beastly, and Munju.

		It started around 5am and continued unabated until 6pm when the continuous snow turned much more showery as the very slow moving LP system that brought the weather, finally drifted to the ESE and away from the UK.

		The LP is something of a rarity, but is one of the few that I would pay the exorbitant collector's prices for.
		The opening song "Suerte" is a slick new-age piece along the lines of Weather Report without falling to the excess of Kenny G. The music significantly improves after "Suerte" alternating between bucolic guitar pieces evoking Pat Metheny and jazz fusion in the style of Chic Corea.
		The first LP was great (hard rock sound) but the problem was that the label did not publicise the album enough.
