Weatherscan (formerly Weatherscan Local) is a digital TV channel offered by The Weather Channel.
Weatherscan was originally named "Weatherscan Local", then it was simplified to "Weatherscan" in September 2003 when it also received new, animated graphics.
During severe weather mode, Weatherscan now shows only the Local Radar, Weather Bulletins (if a weather watch or statement is issued), and the special weather message.

Regarding the Weatherscan area/counties served, we are looking into that as well.
Also, I think it might be nice if the traffic reports would crawl on the bottom with the current conditions and forecasts as they do on TWC on the fl bar.
Not only did it happen on Weatherscan, but the 376 report on my IS (022438 [and 022434], which reads exactly as follows: Pkwy East EB: Rt 791/Penn Hills to PA Turnpike.

The weather channel requires a weatherscan machine/computer at each headend to onthefly generate the local on the 8s segments and the bottom fl banner.
My understanding is Verizon hasn't gotten the weatherscan machines yet, but I have no idea why not.
On my channel lineup it shows Verizon plans another local weather station on channel 49, but no clue when they are going to turn it on.

Since it came on my cable station back at Christmas they have had the same songs on rotation.
Yeah that would actually be a wise thing to do, that way if you don't recognize any of his songs as those your hearing on Weatherscan, you don't have to buy the cd if you don't want to.
