List of webcomics - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This list of webcomics includes comics which are (or were) primarily published on the World Wide Web, as described in the main article on webcomics.
There is usually a fair degree of accuracy about the starting date, particularly in the case of comics whose archives are organized by date, but because of rights being transferred or the very gradual loss of appeal of a particular strip the termination date is often very uncertain.

ArcPage: The Podium | Web Comics
Though some of her clients have been large corporations whose personnel have a fairly sophisticated understanding of the internet, intranets, ecommerce and (fill in your favorite hi-tech buzzword), she also frequently works with clients who are, shall we say, less than a courant with what this new electronic medium is all about.
Web comics, online comics, electronicomics, there are probably another half dozen terms for it that I've missed.
There are those in the comics world who hold that comics produced for the web, with uniquely web-enabled features, don't really qualify as "comics" per se, that they're a different medium and a different beast altogether.

Comixfan Forums - RIPPED BATMAN SHIRT #4: AHOY WEB COMICS!
Web comics though are a great way to read a comic for free and possibly perk your interest enough to go to your local store and try new titles.
For comics on the web you truly can't beat Crossgen, and their website (http://www.comicsontheweb.com) is very easy one to remember.
The comic was originally published throughout the 80's and 90's through Now Comics, but creator Marc Hanson’s recent reacquisition of the rights has led him to launch the www.ralphsnart.com website.

Echo Online :: News :: Web comics attract devout fans
Web comics tend to appeal to a niche market, such as fans of computer games and Japanese animation, who already spend a lot of time and money on the Internet.
Web comic authors don't worry about editors changing their work because of controversy or lack of readers.
Maintaining a positive relationship with readers often occupies comics creators' time though because the comics are largely dependent on both advertisers, who need proof that their advertisements will reach a large audience, and independent donations from fans, Dean said.

 Making Web-Comics Your Day Job
Web comic creators need food and shelter just like every other human being out there so they usually end up getting a job (unless they're still in college and mooching off of their parents:-D).
When comics are posted too irregularly, readers begin to lose interest or express frustrations.
Whether you are trying to turn your comic into your "real" job or your comic is transforming into your "real" job on its own, it's important to take time and plan ahead as you make the switch.

Web Comics Awareness Day 2003 : May 5, 2003   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-22)
Webcomics deliver to them what both comic books -- with their rarefied subject matter and ossified distribution system -- and newspaper strips -- sanitized, marginalised, regularly censored, 50 years behind the times-- have failed to deliver to them: a wide range of comics that entertain them and speak to them.
This comic is shown at the largest size the author could get away with, in order to be able to display the page excerpts from Cerebus, Acme Novelty Library and The Incredible Upside Downs, and in the hope that the next generation of screens will allow decent image resolution.
Update: Comics scholar and all-around wise guy Andy Konky Kru refered me to a page about Gustave Verbeek where one of his pages is shown twice, the second time upside down.

Nuklear Power - Home of 8-bit Theater
Part of the problem with continuity is that regular comic book readers tend to be more pedantic than normal people.
And comics can't really get out of that hole; they've been digging it for seventy years in some cases.
Some years ago I said that print comics as a whole are, in fact, eternally trapped in their ever-changing, never-different middle.

Digital Strips : The Web Comics Podcast
Their web site for the film is still unavailable and has been since the trailer originally went online and began getting attention.
It appears that a lot of the angst is being caused by the perceived serious tone of the film, holding up comics on the web as some supreme example of the "artiste'" triumphing over the "man" and a world looking to squash their unbridled creativity (I'm making myself queazy just writing that).

 Web comics: easily found amusement
Web comics are what they sound like: comic strips on the web.
There are web comics that make the newspaper funnies look tame, thanks to the flexible format the web can offer.

Web comics are just like your sunday paper comics, except that the artist gets to choose when they will be updating, how many frames each comic has, and keep an archive of past comics for new viewers.
Many Web comic artists work for free, out of pure enjoyment of the art, but some of the best are supplemented by the donations of kind readers.
The best part about Web comics is that new artists can stick their foot in the door through great hosting sites like KeenSpace, and can become well know in the world of online comics.

The Komikaze: New Comics Web Ring is intended as a cooperative effort by which creators of new webcomics can 'share' traffic to promote their own work and that of others.
Web content-providers can add their pages to the ring by 'linking in' to the ring so that web surfers are more likely to encounter their site.
Web rings usually have a moderator who controls which pages are 'related' and which are orthogonal to the purpose of the web ring."

 2035 Mi.: Web Comics
My guess is that a comic like Dilbert publishes in print for hefty syndication fees and has a website mainly to drive people to the print version and to gain some online ad revenue.
Predictably, PVPs syndication idea and the general rise in prominence of web comics has some of the traditional comic artists a bit defensive.
The web is changing people's views of publishing and there is nothing about printed content that makes it inherently better than web content.

Often the comics characters we grew up on were, in the minds of most of the creative teams of the day anyway, nothing more than vehicles to selling lunchboxes, underwear, and, of course, toys.

Were this done up like traditional comics pages, I would guess at least 10-15 pages would have gone by and created more room for banners.
Of course, McCloud’s whole point is not to look like a print comic, and he needs a different revenue model, as such.
