Females with Turner syndrome may have a short, webbed neck with a low hairline; short stature; drooping of the upper eyelids (ptosis) and/or widely spaced eyes (ocular hypertelorism); widely spaced, inverted, and/or underdeveloped (hypoplastic) nipples; congenital heart defects; and/or kidney abnormalities.
There are additional disorders that may be characterized by craniofacial malformations, webbing of the neck, short stature, skeletal malformations, congenital heart defects, blood clotting and platelet deficiencies, congenital lymphatic malformations, mental retardation, and/or other characteristics similar to those potentially associated with Noonan syndrome.
A diagnosis of Noonan syndrome may be considered due to detection of excessive amniotic fluid surrounding the fetus within the amniotic sac (hydramnios), the presence of an abnormal cystic growth consisting of dilated lymph vessels in the neck area (cystic hygroma), and confirmation of a normal chromosomal makeup (karyotype).

Turner syndrome is a complex human developmental disorder associated with the absence of the second sex chromosome (monosomy X).
Cardinal features of the Turner phenotype include high intrauterine lethality, growth retardation, gonadal failure, and the variable presence of specific somatic abnormalities such as webbed neck, lymphedema, and skeletal abnormalities.
Recent observations support the hypothesis that the phenotype associated with monosomy X results from haploid dosage of genes common the X and Y chromosomes that escape X-inactivation ({open_quotes}Turner genes{close_quotes}).

Noonan Syndrome - Health and Medical Information produced by doctors - MedicineNet.com
Noonan syndrome has also been called the pterygium colli (webbed neck) syndrome, a term of limited utility because it focuses only on one of the many aspects of Noonan syndrome.
These terms all came about since short stature and webbed neck occur in both Noonan and Turner syndromes.Turner syndrome is an inherited disorder of the sex chromosomes whereby affected persons only have one X chromosome (and not a second X or a Y chromosome) and appear as females.
The similar appearance of patients with Noonan and Turner syndromes led people to think in error that Noonan syndrome was a type of Turner syndrome.
