Weeton's was funded by a partnership between his family farm, based west of Harrogate, and Grantchester Farm in Cheshire, owned by Labour peer Lord John Grantchester.
Weeton's must now work hard to stay ahead of the game and a small chain is also planned.

APR continued in good form for the rest of the half and just when it looked as though they’d have to settle for a one goal advantage Weeton conceded another but this time it was all of their own doing.
In contrast, Weeton were inspired moving forward with purpose and aggression and were unlucky not to equalise with a stinger of a free kick which the APR did well to tip onto and over the crossbar for a corner.
Weeton put in a battling performance displaying good team spirit as you’d expect when they went in at half time 3-1 down.

 The history of Weeton Show
Weeton and District Agricultural and Horticultural Society, better known as Weeton Show, was established immediately after World War II and here is an extract from an early Membership Card:
We say “the sun always shines at Weeton Show” and even though the fields were flooded the week prior to the show one year and Yorkshire Water had a massive excavation through the centre of the show ground another year, the committee have always been determined that “the show must go on”.
This was a great success but it did caused controversy with some of the long standing and loyal church attending supporters of the show, so, in a marvellous spirit of compromise, it was agreed that the vicar would conduct a service at the show ground.

 Nelly Weeton
This song was written during a college summer session in Williamsburg, VA, in the summer of 1986.
It was a channeling of outrage inspired by "The Discouragement of a Young Writer", an excerpt from Ellen (Nelly) Weeton's Memoirs of a Governess (written and published between 1809 and 1811), published in a compilation work entitled Strong-Willed Women and Other Lost Voices from the Nineteenth Century.
This is also the first song I ever wrote backwards, starting with the last verse and chorus and working in reverse, because I kept forgetting details of Weeton's story and having to go back to the College Bookstore and read the excerpt over again.
