So, little Linda began her life in a shell, popping her head out only when she was at home, in the safety of her family.
It was so sad, she was saying that she didn’t have any friends, etc. She said that this other little boy was being mean to her and Kyler was his friend, which I know is not the truth.
So, I was trying to explain to her that Kyler was different from other little kids, and that he really wants friends, but it is hard for him to make friends, and that he was a little quirky, and a lot of kids don’t understand that.

Thoughts on Seeming Less Weird   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-29)
But the flavor of weird I'm talking about here is the more 'off', unsettling variety that we would all agree hinders, rather than helps, the meeting of our social and romantic goals.
I don't know if it's the hobbies that made them weird, or they were weird before, or some interaction of the two.
A big part of being weird and nerdy is that your life bypassed a lot of the stuff regular people have done.

The Weird Tales website is proud to present the following rare interview with Margaret Brundage (1900-1976), the queen of Weird Tales artists and the illustrator whose work is most associated with the magazine.
They both knew that when Weird Tales was going to move to New York, that I would be left in a financial bind, since my husband and I were separated, and they knew he was worthless, at least for financial support - and here I was with a kid to raise.
One of the authors -- well, Weird Tales asked me to make larger and larger breasts -- larger than I would have liked to -- well, one cover, one of the authors wrote in and said that things were getting a little bit out of line.

The music is appropriately schizoid, with arcs of piercing electronics and stabbing percussion slashing their way through bursts of warped surf guitar, recalling at once Naked City's genre-busting tendencies and Zorn's more nightmarish take on ambient (Leng T'Che, Absinthe, elements of Kristallnacht).

 LITTLE BOY BLUE AND PANCHO
LITTLE BOY BLUE AND PANCHO is a strange and affecting little film.
LITTLE BOY BLUE AND PANCHO is not a fairy tale by any stretch of the imagination, but more of a minor wildlife adventure with a coming-of-age premise (and nary a fantasy element in sight), sort of a Mexican "Tom Sawyer" (a comparison Murray was quick to make in his advertising for the picture).
All in all, LITTLE BOY BLUE AND PANCHO is a real odd duck, a grungy, harrowing, bewitching thrill-ride for lower-middle class youngsters, an excellent illustration of Murray's unique cultural role as child-frightener.

The Flick Filosopher | Chicken Little
No, wait, that was Beauty...) Little kids today may never get the message, from this story at least, that you're a pathetic woos if you overreact to something completely mundane and ordinary -- instead, they'll get the message, maybe, that people are unwilling to believe anything that doesn't fit into their neat preconceived mental boxes.
They're already outcast themselves, of course, so they don't have to move to embrace Chicken Little so much as they have to just welcome him to their world...
But I just can't help but consider that we're living in Chicken Little's world, where the weird little clucker on the fringes who shouts the truth is ignored, and everyone else turns into a different kind of birdbrain -- the kind who buries her head in the ground in order to deny reality.
