Weird NJ (WNJ) is a semiannual magazine that chronicles local legends, ghost stories, folklore and anything considered "weird" in the U.S. state of New Jersey.
Weird NJ began in 1989 as a personal newsletter sent to friends by Mark Moran and Mark Sceurman.
When Weird NJ readers learned of the planned demolition, efforts were started to try to save the building.

Weird NJ 's Mark Moran Interviewed at Kyonsi Online NY In the transitional phase of Kyonsi Online over a year ago I interviewed Mark Moran from Weird New Jersey Magazine, Weird NJ has been a favorite read of mine for over 5 years.
The best thing about Weird NJ is you can live anywhere in the world and still be amused by the articles of oddities in their magazine.
Some of the most flattering responses we get are from people who started out going to Weird NJ spots simply for their own thrills and kicks who are now genuinely interested in the history and folklore of the Garden State.

Some of the things that WEIRD NJ fans share is a very good imagination, a creative mind and a sense of adventure...for example...
Born in Manhattan, but moved to Lodi, NJ in 1968 when I was 6 yrs old and I knew right away that I was in a weird and magical place.
These are not weird "locations" as in Weird NJ but strange, not just spooky, but also miraculous, positive, "happenings" and life "experiences".

Weird NJ June 6, 2005 5:58 PM Years ago, Jane and Michael Stern authored Amazing America, a fabulous book about roadside America, which was one of my favorite references for something novel to see while traveling in the US.

Wierd NJ is amazing stuff; I always loved their "abandoned psychiatric facilities" articles.

I did know about it, and have seen the magazines, but what I did not realize is that most of the ‘weirdness’ in NJ is within 10 miles of where I live!
I pass the roadside weird pole toppers every single day (they’ve just added a new one, which we were thrilled to see).
There's a weird NY, and lots of other places, mostly back east and in the midwest.

Being a fan of Weird NJ for several years, I recently decided to try out other books that chornicle the strange, unusual and the funny stuff that can be found within our borders.
The Weird NJ book is all about stories and myths, and although you can go out and visit some of the things referenced in the book, it isn't meant as a travel guide.

It was co-authored with James Willis from Ghosts of Ohio and cryptozoology researcher and writer Loren Coleman, and it is one in the Weird US series edited by Mark Sceurman and Mark Moran, the creators of Weird NJ.
The two Marks got in contact with me in late 2004 about working on an Ohio title for their series and I eagerly accepted, happy to be working with the two biggest names in weird local legends and forgotten history.
You can find Weird Ohio at pretty much any Ohio bookstore, but especially Barnes & Noble, where James and I will be doing many book signings in December and January of 2005/2006.

I just recently joined up with blurty, and since I noticed that there wasn't a Weird NJ community already, I decided to create one.
If anyone feels the need to violate the rules more than once, they will be dealt with depending on the severity of their violation.
There shouldn't be a need for these rules, but I do want to keep a nice happy community here for fellow Weird NJ lovers.

They are expanding their "empire" and now have many "Weird" titles (check out www.weirdnj.com).
For example, the current issue includes features on a boardwalk sideshow, an artist who has turned his home into a mosaic sculpture, and a walk on the Pulaski Skyway - plus a bunch of 'me and my friends were driving around one night and saw something strange' type stories and photos of unusual tombstones.
Weird NJ is published only twice a year but with a lot to read in each issue it is worth the wait.
