		In the utopia constructed by Kim Il-sung, every single man or woman was supposed to work for the state, and was rewarded for his and her efforts with officially approved rations and salaries.
		But North Korean men still saw the situation as temporary and were afraid to lose the trappings of a proper state-sponsored job that for decades had been a condition for survival in their society.
		One cannot promote or demote a vendor, transfer him or her to a better or worse job, nor determine his or her type of residence (though admittedly, most people still live in the houses they received when the old system was still operating).

	Welcome to the North Lake Tahoe Historical Society
		The North Lake Tahoe Historical Society was founded in 1969 and incorporated in 1971 by a group of concerned citizens who saw many of our North Lake Tahoe landmark structures torn down in the 1960's to build condominium developments.
		The North Lake Tahoe Historical Society and the Tahoe City P.U.D. were able to purchase the property in 1979, and it is now listed in the National Register of Historic Sites as the oldest home, built on-site, in Tahoe City.
