Welland (2001 population 48,402) is a city on the Welland Canal in the Niagara Region of Ontario, Canada.
Welland also has a significant concentration of Franco-Ontarians, and is one of only three communities in Southern Ontario (excluding Eastern Ontario) where francophones, as a percentage of the community's population, exceed the provincial average of 5%.
The city of Welland has not grown for the past five years; however, the Niagara College brings people from all over southern Ontario to the city, promoting diversity.
