Wellesley Island State Park has the largest camping complex in the Thousand Islands region.
One of the main attractions of the park is the Minna Anthony Common Nature Center, which includes a museum, varied habitats such as wooded wetlands, 3 miles of shoreline and open granite outcrops, and miles of trails for hiking, cross-country skiing and nature education.
You can choose a two or three bedroom cottage with all the comforts of home, including a bathroom with shower, kitchen with refrigerator and stove, bedding, cooking utensils, dishes, glassware, silverware, etc. Outside each vacation rental, a picnic table and ground grill are provided for meals and evening campfires.

I was a bit concerned about the gasket on the hitch end of the pop-up not being sealed as tightly as the rest of the way around, but everything was still dry after several hours of driving through the pouring rain.
We were very close to the bathrooms and, if we had any complaints at all, it would be the slamming of the bathroom door and the noisey hand dryers during the night.
Wellesley Island got eight "thumbs up" from our families and we will definitely going back there again sometime.

Wellesley Island SP is a beautiful campground but...the problem is it is an island.
It used to be what ever park you are registered in you can go into the the other ones with that same camping pass to check them out.
The roads outside the campground on the Island itself are narrow and there may be lots of traffic during the summer, so bring helmets and wear them if you decide to venture outside the park.

There are many state parks in the area (I've heard Kring Point is nice too) just go to the map on Reserveamerica and you can get the details on all of them.
There is a small fee to use the pool and waterslides but your entrance to the park will be free because you are staying at a state park.
We have met with a couple of campers from the Buffalo area for the past 6 years and this year we are going to Sampson State Park in the Finger Lakes region for a change, in August.
