Wellie wanging, or wellie throwing, is a freestyle sport that originated in Britain, most likely in the county of Yorkshire.
Note that the word wellie is also often spelt as welly.
The New Zealand and Finnish equivalent is gumboot throwing.

We throw them the same style of Indoor weight, which weighs 35lbs.
If throwing such heavy weights would be a help, then shot putters would be throwing 40 pound and 60 pound shot puts.
But I bet he did not attempt to throw for distance, but more of an exercise, and very few reps. Perhaps if he reads these post he will comment on that overweight training.

Within a 24 hour time-scale teams will throw a regulation rolling pin (for the ladies) and a regulation house brick (for the men) on an agreed standard throwing area.
During the Sunday Show, after demonstration throws by the Brick and Pin throwers, the throwing area will become the location of a fun wellie throwing contest, sponsored by Stroud Saddlery who are kindly arranging the boots to throw and providing prizes for the best efforts.
The few rules do include a clause to stop Lorraine making a serious attempt at wellie throwing in case the footwear lands in the next village.

Team six came first, throwing the wellie a longer cumulative distance among them.
On to Huge J. Nuss'  Landrover, where we had to throw balloons filled with Stella er water at a humungous car tyre, with one point scored for hitting the tyre and two for getting a balloon inside.
So all the teams did the three events and we finished off with cool wine and sparkling water at Hugeness' Landrover, before wandering back to the RV.

Boys and girls alike got stuck into the silage feeling its texture and smelling its aroma, they created beautiful floral displays in 20 minutes using the theme ‘Colour Combination’ and were then given the opportunity to mark a ring of 3 sheep in order and assess a single animal.

We need to throw balls and darts together and push little objects around on tables together and keep scores and exclaim over wins and grumble about losses and argue about the rules.
