  Back Bay (MBTA station) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Back Bay Station, located at 145 Dartmouth Street, between Stuart Street and Columbus Avenue, in Back Bay, Boston, is an important transportation center.
Back Bay Station opened May, 1987 as part of the Orange Line's Southwest Corridor project and was dedicated by Governor Michael Dukakis.
Back Bay Station has a full length high level platform for Amtrak Northeast Corridor and MBTA Attleboro/Providence trains but only a short high level platform for MBTA Framingham/Worcester and Amtrak Chicago trains (which operate on different tracks from the Northeast Corridor service).

 MBTA buses in East Boston, Chelsea and Revere - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) operates local buses in East Boston, Boston, Massachusetts, connecting to the Blue Line at Maverick or Wood Island.
The routes numbered from 111 to 119 were once run by the Eastern Massachusetts Street Railway as streetcar lines of their Chelsea Division.
After a period of closure, the Chelsea Street Bridge reopened, and in December 1977 the 112 was rerouted to use it and end at Wood Island.

Whereas, The deferred operation of this act would tend to defeat its purpose, which is to immediately provide for an accelerated transportation development and improvement program for the commonwealth, therefore it is hereby declared to be an emergency law, necessary for the immediate preservation of the public convenience.
To provide for a program of transportation development and improvements, the sums set forth in sections 2 to 2K, inclusive, for the several purposes and subject to the conditions specified in this act, are hereby made available, subject to the laws regulating the disbursement of public funds and approval thereof.
The inspector general shall file with the house and senate committee on ways and means and the joint committee on transportation all notices of approval for projects undertaken pursuant to this paragraph.

The authority is hereby authorized and empowered, subject to the provisions of this chapter, to own, construct, maintain, repair, reconstruct, improve, rehabilitate, finance, refinance, use, police, administer, control and operate (a) the turnpike as defined herein; and (b) the metropolitan highway system as defined herein.
The chairperson of said authority shall report to the secretary of transportation and construction on a regular basis to assist the secretary in coordinating the transportation agenda of the commonwealth.
Said task force shall consist of 5 members: 1 shall be appointed by the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority; 1 shall be appointed by the Massachusetts highway department; 1 shall be appointed by the executive office of environmental affairs; 2 shall be appointed by the mayor of the city of Newton.

The Route 110 bus was traveling from the Wonderland Station on the Blue Line to the Wellington Station on the Orange Line at about 4:20 p.m.
That driver radioed in, and dispatchers notified the Route 110 driver of the problem when the bus was at the intersection of Elm and Washington streets, near the Revere line.
The authority has plans to replace many of the older buses in coming years as it continues modernizing its fleet.

Poor public transportation is a particular problem in Union Square, which suffers from high traffic volume, poor air, and inconvenience for commuters who depend upon mostly diesel buses caught in traffic.
On January 7, I had occasion to be speaking to the Commissioner of the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), Robert Golledge, Jr., regarding the state's proposal to change existing regulations to allow "substitutions" for transit projects, which the Commonwealth agreed to build in mitigation for the Central Artery/Tunnel Project (CA/T).
I have had no indication that the Executive Office of Transportation (EOT), the other agency taking public comment on the substitution proposal, is extending its deadline, so my advice would be to send comments to both agencies by the original deadline.
