The Byrd family migrated from there through Kentucky and southern Indiana, while the Sonners went from Virginia to Ohio, Now, some 125 years later, George Washington Byrd and George A.G. Sonner are neighbors in Wells County, Indiana and their children are being united in marriage.
Both John Alva and Nora Jane Byrd are buried in well marked graves in Hoverstock Cemetery, south of Zanesville, Union Township, Wells County.

Paul Bender, of the Wells County Historical Society, took these two photos of the Wells County Courthouse in 1998 with a digital camera (and all signs, cables, etc. were digitally removed).
The cornerstone for this, the county's third courthouse, was laid October 29, 1889 and the building was completed in 1891.
