If her death occurred in Wells, she may have been the first death of an adult in the township and may have been taken to Newtown (now Elmira) for burial or she died in Newtown where it is known son Elkanah was enumerated in 1810 and probably still living there a year later.
Enumerated in Towanda borough, Bradford County, Pennsylvania in 1850, sadler.

He then enlisted in the One Hundred and Forty-third Pennsylvania Volunteers, and was mustered in as first sergeant of Company K. He served with his regiment in all of the marches and battles in which it participated up to the battle of the Wilderness, where he was severely wounded.
He was married in 1832 to Olive Savage, and in 1842 he purchased a tract of land in Granville township, Bradford county, Pennsylvania, and settled upon it.
He remained with his parents, attending the public schools of Cascade township, until 1873, and then entered the Montoursville Normal School, where he continued his studies until the fall of 1879; he was then appointed a teacher in that institution, and continued to fill that position for one term.

Groundwater samples collected from an on-site monitoring well located north of the eastern and western landfill areas were found to be contaminated with VOC's, including methylene chloride (maximum concentration of 270 ppb), and low concentrations of acetone, 2-butanone, ethylbenzene and xylene.
Wells were found to be contaminated by barium (maximum concentration of 291 ppb) and silver (maximum concentration of 60 ppb).
The Pennsylvania Fish Commission presently stocks the creek (in the area of the site) with trout, and the creek is heavily used for fishing and waterfowl hunting.

The earliest lands surveyed and patented in what is now present Wells Township were in the 1780's and comprised the Seeley Creek and Hammond Creek Valleys in the northwestern portion of the township.
The warrants did not fall within present township lines and only warrants 1388, 1389, 1390, 1392, 1393, 1394, and and 5694 fell wholly within what is now the present township, the others extending into what became Tioga County to the west and what became South Creek Township to the east.

The most remarkable feature in the drainage of this county is the heading of Tionesta Creek on the highest land overlooking the Allegheny River in Watson Township; * whence it flows in a direction opposite to the course of the river, north-east, to Cranberry Swamp (6 miles south-east of Warren).
Carll’s conclusion that in the ages before the invasion of the northern ice the drainage of the Tionesta was northward to Warren, and that the reversal of the drainage to its present southward direction was caused by a dam of glacial drift being thrown across the ancient valley between the Cranberry Swamp and Warren.
All the highest highlands of the southern half of the county consist of massive coarse Olean conglomerate, sloping gently south-westward at a rate of 16 feet per mile;= consequently the only coal beds in the county are the Sharon and perhaps Scrubgrass coals, and nowhere of much importance.

According to The History of Camptown, Pennsylvania, 1792-1975, the LEWIS family settled near the mouth of the Wyalusing Creek where Thomas built a log cabin and settled the land.
Many neighbors from Connecticut followed Thomas to Bradford County, Pennsylvania, which was proof of the confidence they had in him.
