 Bass Anglers' Sportfishing Society: Calling Welsh sea anglers
The Welsh Assembly Government has announced its intention to consult all stakeholders on a proposal to increase the minimum landing size of bass and the minimum net mesh size in relation to Welsh territorial waters.
In proposing these measures, the Welsh Assembly Government is looking to increase the value of commercial bass landings, to enable more fish to spawn and to increase the number of larger fish available to anglers.

Following an Assembly plenary debate in 2004, a cross-party Assembly Committee on Smoking in Public Places was established to consider current evidence on relevant issues including the health risks of environmental tobacco smoke and the economic impact of restrictions on smoking in public places.
In response to the Committee's report, the Assembly Government Minister for Health and Social Services (Dr Brian Gibbons) announced that the Assembly Government proposed to implement a comprehensive ban once powers had been granted, and that the Health Improvement and Protection Bill (now the Health Bill) would be the vehicle for providing these powers.
In relation to Wales, it was proposed that the Welsh Assembly Government should be enabled under the terms of the Bill to make provision for smokefree public places in accordance with the policy that they may determine in relation to this issue.
