  ohGr - Welt
This album is, in part, a re-recorded version of the album which Ogre and Mark Walk completed for the W.E.L.T. project in 1995 for American Records.
That album went unreleased, and Ogre was unable to get the rights to the master back, so they re-recorded much, but not all, of it in 1999 (adding four new tracks in the process) to form the record we know as Welt today.
In the interim, another band had taken the name 'Welt' so the name of the project was changed to ohGr and Welt was used as the name of the album instead.

erasing clouds music reviews: october 3
On their fifth album If You Didn't Laugh, You'd Cry, they mix up a stew of rock, pop, blues, country, and Bob Dylan which is completely pleasant but again not all that distinct, an album that begs for the descriptor "decent" more than it does for any sort of impassioned hyperbole.
More overtly fun is their holiday album A Christmas Kind of Town, though it's a lark that ultimately has fewer ups than downs, mostly due to the setting they force the songs into, which lends songs that should be loose and fun a rather stiff feeling.
It's a beautiful album, yet also not wholly optimistic in tone; it doesn't get mired in a dark cloud like the last half of (), yet it still has stretches that are thick with concern and anxiety, even as it at the same time often feels like the epitome of hope.

BLÜMCHEN @ peermusic - The Independent Major
As unpretentious as the two previous albums ("Herzfrequenz" and "Verliebt..."), the 13-track album has the short but sweet title "Jasmin" and, as well as the trademark up-tempo songs, it also covers new musical ground.
The album contains ballads, house-style songs, groovy tracks and songs in an ultramodern electro-style to make "Jasmin" a fantastic pop album made in Germany which does not lose the optimistic spirit of her previous offerings.
As the title says, the album was recorded during the Berlin concert as part of the Jasmin tour at the end of 1998.

Here is a small interview with Henryk to talk about his latest studio album, and about a few considerations about music, his future, and the struggles in the world.

Compare Prices and Read Reviews on Welt - Ohgr at Epinions.com
Technically Welt was Ogre's old side-project from the Skinny Puppy days that he seemed to have abandoned years ago.
With respect to the old project, Ogre named his new album "Welt" and resurrected the anticipation fans once held thanks to the help of his personal friend and Seattle resident, Mark Walk.
I figured all the songs on Welt were as intense as Pore, but when I got it home I discovered it was mostly industrial pop songs...

Kicked in the Teeth Again - Welt - Song Listings
On Welt's second full-length release on Orange County's Dr. Dream Records, the California punk outfit displays more than a modicum of songwriting growth and delivers their improved material with an immediacy fans familiar with the group should expect.
After the success of their raucous debut, Jason Cooper and his band seemed to have put in an extra compositional effort, and 1996's Kicked in the Teeth Again are tight and catchy as a result.
While often compared to bands like Face to Face and Pennywise, Welt seemed to be finding their own niche in the crowded punk market place on this 1996 offering.

Schatten Auf Der Alexander Welt is the story of Alexander Welt, who escapes into a self-created reality.
Radio broadcasts are his only hope of avoiding insanity and as the album booklet tells us, "He of course fails." (ho how Deutsch!) The album is thus Alexander's story punctuated by the various radio stations he listens to.
The first one is by far the best with the sound of a radio being scanned through.

 Ohgr
The band was officially formed in 2001, although the material for the first album, ''Welt'' dates back to the mid-nineties, having been held up due to legal trouble with American Recordings.
''Welt'' was actually originally the title of the group (an acronym of "When Everyone Learns Truth"), until it was discovered that in the interval it had been taken by a Californian punk band.
The band toured in 2001 to support the release of ''Welt''; the live band consisted of Nivek Ogre, Tim Skold (bass), cEvin Key (drums and keyboards), Loki der Quaeler (keyboards), and William Morrison (guitar).

But Jason Cooper, principle songwriter of Welt says the band is not negative--in fact, the albums are about surviving and overcoming.

I believe that it is a very accessible album, even though it isn't that popular.
When the mixes were completed and Ogre tried to release the material under the W.E.L.T. name, he was denied since another group was already named Welt.
So in late 2000/early 2001, the group was re-named ohGr, and released this album entitled WELT in February of 2001.

Before listening to their latest and fourth album Brand New Dream, Welt had already won brownie points with me being they were from my hometown of Sacramento, California.
But rest assured—after listening to the first track “Two Years” off their new album these boys could have been from Hackensack, New Jersey and I would still love ‘em.
Best bets on this album include the monster track “Falling,” which would totally take off with just a bit of coaxing from airplay, and “One Way Ticket,” which is certainly what Welt has written themselves with the release of Brand New Dream—a one-way ticket to success.

 OhGr - "WELT"
Problems at Rick Rubin's American Recordings label prevented the album from being released; in the meantime Ogre and Mark were able to strip out any of the Rick Rubin influence (probably lots of crappy metal guitar) and re-mold an album more in the vein of 80s synth-pop than 90s metallitechno.
WELT is, without a doubt, Ogre's best album since Too Dark Park and the best "Industrial" album to be released in many years.
As none of these people can tolerate each other for more than a year the WELT project died for some time only to be exhumed recently by Ogre and re-mixer Mark Walk.

Next is ‘Der Falken Flug’, in a different version than on the “Flammende Welt” album, an oh so beautiful classical song with the lovely sound of a cello and senstive vocals, later aided by a a violin which reminds me of Argine, after which drums and guitars join them to finish the song.
It is followed by the melancholic ‘Im Heimatwald’, full of longing, but the drums and orchestral outro seem to offer some comfort.

Since that time, the former Puppy frontman has toured with KMFDM and recorded an album with Ruby producer Mark Walk as Welt, which has sadly been left languishing in the vaults due to American Recordings' financial difficulties.
The album opens with an appropriately skewed acoustic rendition of Syd Barrett's 'Scarecrow' and explores a variety of sonic worlds through such numbers as the tribal-techno romp 'Idle Contract' and the eerie 'Crackhead Waltz,' which fashions a nightmarish lullaby from layers of sing-song vocals, percussion, and a transposed orchestral sample.
Ogre and Walk hope to enter the studio soon to record another Welt album and, with any luck, some of their initial material can be saved from obscurity and updated for this release.
