 The East Coast Main Line Bottleneck Project
On the 9th of November a letter and leaflet was sent from Railtrack to residents living next to or nearby the East Coast Main Line between Welwyn Garden City and Knebworth.
This plan, part of phase four in a scheme all ready underway, will involve the construction of a second large viaduct over the Mimram Valley.
This mailer discussed the plans to upgrade the ECML from two to four tracks between Digswell Junction and Woolmer Green.

 Railways of the Lea Valley
Lea Valley Walk between Cole Green and the viaduct carrying the Hertford North line.
A line from Welwyn to Hertford was opened in 1858 terminating at Cowbridge station, which was next to McMullen's brewery in the centre of the town.
A second Edmonton Green station was built on the new line and the Enfield branch was widened to double track north of the new junction and even merited the building of a proper station at Enfield Town to replace the former mansion that had until then been used as the station.

Lewis Cubitt was born 29 Sep 1799 and died 9 June 1883 at Lewes Crescent, Brighton.
William Cubitt (1791-1863) (Thomas's brother) built Cubitt's Town and was Lord Mayor of London.
