Wenceslaus was the son of Ottokar I and Konstancia, daughter of Bela III, King of Hungary.
Wenceslaus' foreign policy was focused on uniting the Duchy of Austria with the Kingdom of Bohemia following the death of the last Babenberg duke of Austria, Frederick II, during the battle of the Leitha river in 1246.
Wenceslaus' eldest son, Vladislav, was married to Frederick's sister Marguerite and received the homage of the Austrian barons as their future ruler, but died before he could be formally acclaimed as duke.

Wenceslaus III Premyslid (Czech and Slovak Václav, Hungarian Vencel), (October 6, 1289 – August 4, 1306) was the king of Hungary (1301 - 1305) and king of Bohemia (1305 - 1306).
Wenceslaus III was the son of Wenceslaus II, King of Bohemia and Poland, and Judith von Habsburg, the daughter of Holy Roman Emperor Rudolf I.
Wenceslaus III, however, wanted to claim his hereditary right to the Polish throne, but was murdered under mysterious circumstances in Olomouc, Moravia on August 4, 1306 while on a campaign to Poland.

Wenceslaus avoided suppressing the national and religious outburst that followed the burning of Huss, but pressure from Sigismund, then German king, and the rise of the radical Hussite leader John Zizka cooled his feelings toward the Hussites.
Wenceslaus died shortly afterward and was succeeded by Sigismund as king of Bohemia.

Wenceslaus (1361-1419) was Holy Roman emperor from 1376 to 1400 and as Wenceslaus IV was king of Bohemia from 1378 to 1419.
