WENDELL R. ANDERSON 141 Edgewood Court Wayzata, Mn 55391 Wendell R. Anderson was born February 1, 1933, on the East Side of Saint Paul.
Anderson was elected to a four-year term as governor of Minnesota in November, 1970, and was re-elected in November, 1974 with a 62.8 percent of the the vote -- the largest percentage in a Minnesota gubernatorial election since 1916, and by a record margin of nearly 420,000 votes.
Anderson served as chairman of the Democratic Governor's Conference for the 1974-75 term, and as a member of the Executive Committee of the Democratic National Committee for the same period.

BIOGRAPHY OF WENDELL R. Wendell Anderson was born in St. Paul on February 1, 1933, and graduated from the University of Minnesota Law School in 1960.
Anderson was elected governor of Minnesota in 1970, focusing his campaign on the need to reduce the burden of high property taxes, and to provide local communities--primarily schools--with major nonproperty revenues from the state.
Anderson was defeated by Independent-Republican Rudy Boschwitz in the 1978 general election.

 Rudy Perpich - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In 1974, he was re-elected, this time on a ticket with Gov. Wendell Anderson.
(Prior to 1974, the governor and lieutenant governor were elected separately.) Perpich became governor when Anderson resigned in 1976 to take the United States Senate seat vacated by Walter Mondale, who had been elected US vice president.
Anderson's arranging for his own appointment to the Senate and Perpich's role in it were factors in their defeats.
