TU Berlin - The shoulders on which we stand - Festschrift zur 125-Jahr-Feier der TU Berlin
Werner Julius March was born into a well-known family of manufacturers and architects, on 17 January 1894 in Charlottenburg, Berlin.
March was successful in his efforts to have the Bundesinstitut für Städtebau (Federal Institute for Urban Planning) located in Berlin.
The suggestions put forward by March in collaboration with the sociologist Ilse Balg for the redevelopment of the Kreuzberg district of Berlin were not put into action and the area has suffered as a result.

 Global Neighbourhoods: Amazon's CTO Retorts
Werner argues that Amazon sets a very high bar and expects its guest speakers to be prepared to defend their ideas against these tough and exacting standards.
Werner, if you want to have a public debate on how Amazon could improve its customer relationships with more employee blogs or corporate blogs, please name the time and place--as well as the neutral referee.
Seems fair enough that Werner should be looking for some hard data to back up the implied value of corporate blogging, but I can equally understand that Shel and Robert have concentrated their efforts on the more qualitative aspects around brand, community, customer service and so on.

The Post Money Value: Amazon Bad Boy - Werner Vogels
Give it a couple of years on the author circuits, and you'll realize Werner was not singling you out for bad treatment, it was the other audiences that were unusually nice.
Werner's post has a heavy emphasis on demanding "data-driven answers" and "very strong arguments and hard evidence", which strongly suggests that the only way that Amazon will adopt naked conversations will be a bottom-up, grass roots effort.
Werner's hard as nails approach reminds me of the PC back in 1983.

Werner Erhard Page at Working Minds
When Werner filed for incorporation, the state bureaucrats refused on the basis of an obscure rule that did not permit corporate names to be in a foreign language.
Werner's on-the-spot solution was to state that 'est' stood for 'Erhard Seminars Training'; the bureaucrats were satisfied, and that expansion of the company's name was seldom used officially.
Around the same time, Werner left the United States, partly because of threats on his life and partly because his direct participation with the company was no longer necessary.

From 1926 to 1929, Otto March's sons (Werner and Walter) were assigned to build an annex for these institutions: the "Deutsches Sportforum" (German Sportforum), though the construction was intermittent because the project had little financial support.

Freight demand continued to show softness in March 2006 but was about the same as March 2005, due principally to an easier comparison caused by a decline in seasonally adjusted freight demand from February 2005 to March 2005.
Werner is benefiting from actions taken by the company during the last few years to lessen the impact of freight market fluctuations, particularly during first quarter that is historically the most challenging quarter of the year in terms of freight demand.
These actions include managing more freight due to the expansion of the company's Value Added Services division, increasing high-service multimodal freight that gives Werner the flexibility to use either truck or truck/rail service options, and reducing the percentage of the fleet that has one-way freight shipments.
