Port Adelaide Football Club - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Based in the western suburbs of Adelaide, South Australia, Port Adelaide Football Club derives its name from the Port Adelaide area it is situated in and developed a strong following amongst the working class denizens of the western suburbs and a strong rivalry with the wealthier clubs of Adelaide's east and south.
The members of the Port Adelaide Football Club at the annual general meeting voted for the continuance of a Port Adelaide presence in the SANFL as a condition of its entry into the AFL.
The club that would maintain a Port Adelaide presence in the SANFL should carry all the hallmarks of the Port Adelaide Football Club and it would be called the Port Adelaide Magpies Football Club, The Port Adelaide Football Club was no longer a part of the SANFL.

South Australian National Football League - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Heavyweights Norwood and Port Adelaide continued their domination of the league, and were joined by West Adelaide and North Adelaide and between them, the four clubs won all premierships between 1901 and 1913.
However, this period was dominated by Fos Williams' Port Adelaide, winning seven premierships, including an amazing six in a row from 1954-59 (although the 1959 premiership was won under the stewardship of Geoff Motley as Captain-Coach).
However matters came to an abrupt head on July 31, 1990, when the Port Adelaide Football Club, feeling it was subsidising the other SANFL clubs, made an independent bid to the join the AFL.

 West Adelaide (2)
A piece of football folklore was created in the aftermath of the 1958 grand final as a group of West Adelaide supporters returned to Adelaide Oval late the same night and made off with the 'infamous' goal post which had got in the way of Jack Richardson's late shot.
Sadly for West it was to be a case of third time unlucky as the team failed to perform to potential, missing the finals in each of Kerley's two seasons in charge.
With club finances looking secure, and an able and energetic coach with a young and talented squad of players (potentially at least) at his disposal, the Bloods can confidently be expected to mount a sustained challenge for the premiership within the next couple of seasons.

 Oxygen Versus Beer
In 1908, the arrival as coach of former South Adelaide and North Adelaide ruck champion Jack 'Dinny' Reedman proved to be the catalyst needed for the team to transform its undoubted potential into full-blown success.
Reedman was the first coach to be employed by the club in a non-playing capacity, and he oversaw some important developments, notably the recruitment of half a dozen highly promising players from country clubs.
West Adelaide worked like a piece of well-oiled machinery, and they achieved a victory of which not only the club and their thousands of loyal supporters but the whole state feel justly proud.

The Collingwood Football Club (nicknamed The Magpies because of the fl and white jerseys worn by the players) is an Australian rules football club, playing in the elite Australian Football League.
The Magpies are known for its passinoate supporting base, and have traditionally been the team other fans "love to hate", due perhaps to their on-field successes combined with a "rough and ready" attitude in line with its working-class roots.
The national league may have diluted this feeling somewhat, but rivalries with fellow Victorian clubs Carlton Football Club and Essendon Football Club remain fierce.
