AngliaCampus : East Anglian Railways - Study Sheet 1
East Anglia, like so many areas of Great Britain, is a name that is well known but whose boundaries vary in definition.
Much of the area was a stronghold of the Great Eastern Railway with the Great Northern, Midland and London & North Western to the west.
Infiltration by these companies into East Anglia was very limited until the 1880s when the Midland & Great Northern Joint Railway (M&GN) used smaller companies' lines and new construction to open a line from east of Leicester to the Norfolk coast.

April 2004 from the former Anglia, and Great Eastern franchises, plus West Anglia services from the former West Anglia Great Northern franchise, there was a difference in the treatment of members transferring.
The former WAGN Section remained as an individual section and was renamed West Anglia Great Northern Railway Section but retained all the pensioners and deferreds.
If Government wishes to play musical chairs with the franchises that is obviously a matter within their control but, regardless of whether RMT as a Union agrees with those changes, the fact is that such alterations have a major impact on our members' pension arrangements.

 CULG - Northern Line
The tube was 3.1m (10'2") in diameter in the northern section, and 3.2m (10'6") in the straighter southern section, to allow for the extra sway of the faster trains; some later sections were 3.51m (11'6") in diameter to provide better ventilation.
Both northern branches also saw some non-stop running; there used to be loops at Brent Cross to allow a stopped train to be overtaken by a non-stopper.
In the specific case of the Northern Line, the closed stations at South Kentish Town and City Road were used for this purpose, as was Highgate even before it opened (until the surface access was ready, some trains stopped there to serve shelterers).
