  Britain.tv Wikipedia - Essex
The boundary with Greater London was established in 1965 when the former area of the East Ham and West Ham county boroughs and of the Barking, Chingford, Dagenham, Hornchurch, Ilford, Leyton, Romford, Walthamstow and Wanstead and Woodford districts was transferred.
To the north of the Green Belt, with the exception of major towns such as Chelmsford, the county is rural, with many small towns, villages and hamlets largely built in the traditional materials of timber and brick, with clay tile or thatched roofs.
The main airport in Essex is London Stansted Airport, serving destinations in Europe and North America; Southend Airport, [1] once one of Britain's busiest airports, is undergoing redevelopment, but still has limited passenger flights to destinations such as the Channel Islands.

It appears that the the main Marsh family of West Wratting was related to many Marshes in adjoining villages of Brinkley, Balsham, Burrough Green, Dullingham, Stetchwoth, Burwell, Linton, Carlton, and Weston Colville, with some possible links to Marsh families in West Suffolk, eg Gt Thurlow.
Earliest Marshes at West Wratting: I note that there was a will for a John Marche of West Wratting between 1515, and 1533, and a little later in the same period was a will for a John Marshe of West Wratting.
It would be tempting to suspect that this Marsh line was from the very old Pampisford Marsh family, which in turn may have traced to the Rololf de Marisco who fought at the battle of Hastings.

This follows the announcement of 6 November 2002 that the SRA had agreed with Stagecoach the principles of a new South West Trains franchise also until February 2007.
Proposal: The Greater Anglia network was awarded to a single operator as part of a drive to reduce the number of train companies operating to major termini in an effort to improve integration between services and reliability, and replaces the previous separate train operating companies Anglia Railways, First Great Eastern and WAGN.
This could raise merger issues and the SRA say that it would be necessary to demonstrate that any change represented value for money and that present passenger price/quality choices were safeguarded.
