		West Bank or Judea and Samaria: the term "West Bank" dates from the time that Jordan controlled the area in question (1948-1967), but is still by far the most common name used in the English-speaking world and by international organizations such as the UN.
		The Gaza Strip and West Bank, a section of the areas awarded by the UN to a prospective Arab state of Palestine, remained in Arab hands while the rest of that area was taken by Israel.
