		The West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences, located in the Salt Lake City district of Kolkata, India, is a law university imparting education in the judicial and legal sciences.
		Graduates have also opted to pursue hugher education in universities abroad, such as Harvard, Oxford, the National University of Singapore, Stanford, etc. Students have been awarded the Rhodes, Chevening and Felix scholarships.
		In 2003, a speaker from the University team was awarded an oralist rank of 32, the highest ever by an Indian.

	India: Inaugural Henry Dunant Moot Court Competition
		The final between the West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences (NUJS) and the Government Law College, Mumbai, was presided over by Justice D.P. Wadwa, a former Supreme Court of India judge.
		Five teams from leading law universities across India took part in the competition, which was organized to encourage law students to gain a greater understanding of the importance of IHL.
		Students were required to prepare both a prosecution and a defence case relating to a hypothetical situation involving several defendants accused of committing war crimes and crimes against humanity, including rape, torture and the murder of civilians.

		Making enquiries into the West Bengal State Consumer Redressal Commission and a district forum in Calcutta, Souvik Chatterji, one of the teachers of WBNUJS engaged in the study, found that in most cases, the relation among the three jury members of consumer courts was “not cordial” at all.
		The study — covering the district consumer courts of Calcutta, Bankura, North 24 Parganas, Darjeeling and the West Bengal State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission — feels that a three-member panel of judges for a consumer court is grossly inadequate these days.
		Taking serious note of the fact that consumers win very few cases against the state government, the study suggested that the consumer court judges, appointed by the state government, should not adjudicate in cases involving the government.
