The median income for a household in the township is $37,955, and the median income for a family is $38,472.

Fanning is one of the most successful and enterprising farmers of the township, and has been favored with "the golden touch." His farm is a model in neatness, and he lives as happily as a prince in his fine new mansion.
Burlington has given some eminent characters--among whom may be mentioned General Samuel McKean, a member of the State Legislature from 1815 to 1819; a member of Congress from 1822 to 1824; United States Senator from 1835 to 1839.

Seiger lived at Burlington, Kas., and was a member of the Masonic fraternity, having joined that order in West Superior, Wis. The circumstances surrounding the case were so suspicious that three arrests followed, all the persons under investigation being bell boys at the Savoy hotel.

This township was annexed to Shippen Township by the Lycoming County Court at its May 1817 term, to remain so until it was legally organized.
It remained a part of Shippen Township until April 18, 1843, at which time Elk County was erected and this part of Shippen Township was included in the new county.

She was a Southern woman and brought with her a Negro slave who served her mistress faithfully but soon after her death, the slave returned to her old home in the the sunny South land.
The first church building appears to have been commenced in 1853 by the Congregationalists, but it was four or five years in process of construction, and was also used by the Methodists and Free-Will Baptists, finally passing to the ownership of the latter.
In the late 'forties appearances were very favorable for the village of Burlington becoming an important place in the county.

It was laid out ten miles wide east and west, by sixteen miles north and south, being taken from the southeast corner of Sergeant Township and now constitutes what is known as Shippen Township in Cameron County, excepting a two warrants wide along the west side, which were added later.
This township was increased in size by the annexation of Cooper and Burlington Townships in 1817.
Neither of these townships were ever organized, so both lost their identity at this time.
