 West Cheshire Amateur Football League - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The West Cheshire Amateur Football League is an English association football league in the county of Cheshire.
The league's clubs are eligible for the FA Vase but not the FA Cup, and its champions eligible for promotion to the North West Counties Football League Division Two.
After repeated triumphs in the league's West Cheshire Amateur Football League Division One, Cammell Laird F.C. were promoted to the NWC in 2004, and their reserve team, who had won the Second Division, were promoted to the First Division.

The North West Counties Football League (currently known as the Moore and Co Construction Solicitors League because of a sponsorship arrangement) is a football league in the north west of England.
The league was formed in 1982 by the merger of the Cheshire County League and the Lancashire Combination.
At the same time, promotion and relegation between the two leagues were introduced, with either the first or second placed club in the North West Counties Football League being entitled to a place in the NPL, subject to their ground meeting that league's requirements.

For two seasons the team played Sunday football in the Blackley Amateur League with their ground at the Platt Sports Club before playing Saturday football and a move into the South East Lancashire League.
As the team grew stronger they sought a move into higher standard of football and a move into the Manchester Industrial League Division B was the next stop where they finished top and gained promotion to the 'A' Division.
Only one season was played in the league before it amalgamated with the Cheshire League which saw the formation of the North West Counties League.

The league is home to three ex-Football League clubs; Darwen, Glossop North End and Nelson (the Bootle club is not the same club as the former Football League club) and perhaps uniquely, home to two supporter-created teams; Maine Road (formed by Manchester City fans) and FC United (formed by Manchester United fans).

The North West Counties Football League was formed in 1982 with the amalgamation of the Cheshire County League and the Lancashire Combination.
Our sister leagues, the Northern Counties (East) League and the Northern League, both now enjoy similar arrangements, and all four competitions are members of the Joint Liaison Council which administers the Northern arm of the National Football System in England.
The League operates First and Second Division competitions, plus a Reserve League and Cup, and also stages a Challenge Cup, the Final of which is staged at Gigg Lane, home of Bury FC, a Floodlit Trophy and a Second Division Trophy.

Following the formation of the Northern Premier League in 1968, the Lancashire Combination lost a lot of it's 'Glamour' clubs and ambitious Formby decided to apply for membership of that league, and were successful, finishing a creditable ninth in their first season, and in addition won the Liverpool Challenge Cup for the third time.
In 1982, the Lancashire Combination and the Cheshire League merged to form the North West Counties Football League.
However, the move was not without its problems as the club was thrown out of the North West Counties Football League, as the ground wasn't finished by the required deadline.
