  West Cheshire Amateur Football League - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The West Cheshire Amateur Football League is an English association football league in the county of Cheshire.
The league's clubs are eligible for the FA Vase but not the FA Cup, and its champions eligible for promotion to the North West Counties Football League Division Two.
After repeated triumphs in the league's West Cheshire Amateur Football League Division One, Cammell Laird F.C. were promoted to the NWC in 2004, and their reserve team, who had won the Second Division, were promoted to the First Division.

The North West Counties Football League is a football league in the north west of England.
The league was formed in 1982 by the merger of the Cheshire County League and the Lancashire Combination.
The league is home to three ex-Football League clubs; Darwen, Glossop North End and Nelson - the Bootle club is not the same club as the former Football League club - and perhaps uniquely, home to two supporter-created teams; Maine Road (formed by Manchester City fans) and FC United (formed by Manchester United fans).

Until the start of the Northern Premier League in 1968, the Cheshire county League, along with the Yorkshire league, the Midland combination and the Northern League formed the highest level for Non-league football in the northern parts of England.
After the creation of the Northern Premier League, the CCL became far less important, which finally in 1982 resulted in the amalgamation of the CCL and the Lancashire Combination, forming the North West Counties League.

VAUXHALL MOTORS F.C. Founded in 1963, shortly after the new car plant was opened in Ellesmere Port, Vauxhall Motors quickly outgrew their humble beginnings in the Ellesmere Port League and the Wirral Combination and within three years, were playing in the Second Division of the West Cheshire League.
For good measure, they also carried off the Floodlit Trophy, whilst their reserves in the West Cheshire captured the Centenary Pyke Cup for the first time in the club’s history, as well as reaching the Wirral Senior Cup final.
Reserves finish as runners-up in the South Wirral League, but lift both the League Cup and Wirral Junior Cup, and are re-elected to the West Cheshire League.

Helsby FC were first admitted to the West Cheshire League in 1936 as Helsby BI, and the cable works team made an immediate impression, completing the season in 3rd place and reaching the final of the prestigious Pyke Cup.
After a break for World War II, Helsby reappeared in the West Cheshire League in 1951 when we were voted straight into Division One, remained there for 2 seasons, and then resigned.
Keen to progress, when a West Cheshire League Third Division was re-formed in 1998 after a gap of some 93 years, Helsby successfully applied for election.

Disappointments were soon cast aside though, when the club gained promotion to Division One of the West Cheshire League, with the reserve side stepping up from the South Wirral League to Division Two of the West Cheshire League at the end of that season.
Unfortunately further League success has not been forthcoming, with the 1st team dropping into Division 2 and the second string unluckily having to drop into Division 3, but the Management and Committee are forever hopeful.
Whilst Semi final appearances in the West Cheshire Bowl and Wirral Senior cup were accompanied by an unlucky exit in the Cheshire Amateur Cup at the quarter final stage.

The club initially played in the Ellesmere Port League and the Wirral Combination, but the club soon became a class apart at that level and, within three years, had moved up into the West Cheshire League Second Division.
In the 1985/86 season, the club clinched the West Cheshire League championship and then successfully applied to the North West Counties League in 1987.
The 1994/95 season saw the club win both divisions of the WCL and as a result, were accepted back into the NWCL.

The club were members of the local West Cheshire League until the mid-1990s but a series of rapid promotions have seen them progress through the North West Counties League and the UniBond League.

The club joined the Lancashire and Cheshire League in 1975 and, in 1994, became a founder member of the Lancashire County League.
The aim of the club is to be a centre of excellence for the development of young sports-persons, and to be recognised as a force in league cricket.
In 2001, the under 15s won the Lancashire and then North-West stages of the national cup, and were one match away from being in the top-four sides in the country.

Our sister leagues, the Northern Counties (East) League and the Northern League, both now enjoy similar arrangements, and all four competitions are members of the Joint Liaison Council which administers the Northern arm of the National Football System in England.

It seems at present that the club is determined to withdraw from the Lancashire League, a decision taken in the face of any advice that might be offered by the Reserve team manager or any of the other people involved with the Reserves who know football.
I believe the original intention was to try and go into the Liverpool Combination Premier League - a new league to be formed as a result of a merger between the I-Zingari League and the Liverpool County Combination.
Marine Reserves are in the league to which many clubs are again going to have to consider joining with regard to their Reserve sides.

The West Cheshire League at the time, was going through something of an identity crisis.
What happened to ‘Shaftes’ after the Second World War is a mystery, as they didn’t appear in the West Cheshire league again, until the 1962/63 season, entering Div 2, and finishing as Runner/Up in that first season, therefore gaining election to Div 1 for the start of the following season.
We wish them good luck for the future and congratulate them on their return to West Cheshire football.
