The recent conservation of the West Derby Courthouse is a good illustration of this - red sandstone from Cumbria was used to replace Liverpool stone along with lime mortar as used by the original Tudor masons.
We were able to tell her that this half-timbered farmhouse, one of the oldest buildings in West Derby, was demolished in 1907 with parts later erected in Liverpool Museum before being destroyed in the 1941 bombing.
Along with the restoration and conservation of the West Derby Courthouse, this is one of the Society’s notable successes in recent years.
