This is the extreme southwestern township of Washington County, it being bounded on the west by the State of West Virginia and on the south by Greene county.
The territory of West Finley, together with that of East Finley township, was for a period of forty years preceding their separate organization included in the old township of Finley, which had itself formed a part of and was taken from the original township of Donegal.
James Beham settled early in West Finley township, but the date of his settlement is not positively known.  Enough, however, has been learned to place him among the first who came here.  He lived on a farm, a part of which is now the property of Thomas Barnes.  Among the children of Mr.

This township, as also the present township of West Finley, was embraced in the old township of Finley, the territory of which formed a part of the original township of Donegal for nearly seven years from the time of its formation by the trustees.
The prayer of this petition was granted, and Finley township erected by the court May 6, 1788.
Leonard Plants, Sr., probably the oldest man living in East Finley township, and certainly one of the most vigorous in mind and body for one of his years in any community, is of German descent, and was born at the foot of Gallows Hill, Washington Co., Pa., March 22, 1797.

Morris Township volunteer firemen and Ambulance & Chair personnel from Washington moved the injured man to a landing zone nearby from which a medical helicopter evacuated him to UPMC-Presbyterian hospital, Pittsburgh, for treatment.

HARRISBURG, Pa., Oct 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Pennsylvania Game Commission Wildlife Conservation Officers are investigating the cause of death of more than 70 white-tailed deer in Gilmore, Franklin and Richhill townships, Greene County and West Finley Township, Washington County.
Today, six samples from deer in both counties are being sent to the Southeastern Cooperative Wildlife Disease Study at the University of Georgia for testing.
EHD is one of the most common diseases among white-tailed deer in the United States, and is contracted by the bite of insects called "biting midges." EHD usually kills the animal within five to 10 days, but is not spread from deer to deer.
