McCauley's mountain, in Beaver township, a canoe-shaped fragment of the Conglomerate XII, holding the lowest coal beds, stands alone in the Conyngham red shale valley (XI,) on one of the two synclical lines which come through the Catawissa mountain elbow.
Conyngham township is a square piece of Western Middle Anthracite coal field, included in Columbian county, with its Hartville and Centralia collieries.

Saline township, so called from its salt wells, which lies immediately north of Knox, and occupies the extreme northeastern section of Jefferson County, shares with Steubenville Township the honor of being early historic ground.
At present the most imposing school house in the township is the two-story seven room brick structure at Irondale, built about twelve years ago, with a capacity of 400 children.
The first religious services in Saline Township were held at the mouth of Yellow Creek, and in 1800 an M. Society was organized at the cabin of Jeremiah Hickman.

 Welcome to the Shohola Area Historical Information Web Page from Pike County, Pennsylvania.
The township was formed in December of 1851 from parts of Milford, Lackawaxen and Westfall Townships and is located along the Delaware River in Pike County Pennsylvania.
A unified township school was build in 1916 in Shohola Glen resulting in the closing of the community schools shortly thereafter.
The highest point in the township is Bald Hill at 1520 feet and the lowest is the Delaware River south of Pond Eddy.

Erie Bluffs is Pennsylvania’s newest state park, and the catalog of resident wildlife will help the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) craft a management plan for the park.
The 540-acre tract, 12 miles west of the city of Erie, embraces the largest undeveloped stretch of Lake Erie shoreline remaining in the state.
Western Pennsylvania Conservancy bought the property last December from Reliant Energy and is in the process of turning it over to DCNR, which manages 116 other parks across the Commonwealth.
