West Leyden High School is a high school in Northlake, Illinois.
Together with East Leyden High School in Franklin Park, Illinois, it comprises Leyden High School District 212 of the suburban communities in Franklin Park, Northlake, Rosemont, Schiller Park, River Grove, Melrose Park and unincorporated Leyden Township.
Leyden High School District 212 has traditionally been one of the highest salary paying school districts in the state of Illinois.

Competing schools are Glenbrook South High School, Glenview; Maroa-Forsyth High School,; Minooka Community High School, Minooka; Normal Community High School, Normal; Plainfield High School, Plainfield; and West Leyden High School, Northlake.
Schools qualified to participate in the state championship contest by placing in the top three spots in two previous contests held February 15, one sponsored by Argonne in collaboration with Chicago Children's Museum, and the second held at the College of Engineering open house at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

The Illinois State Championship Rube Goldberg Machine Contest for High Schools will be held in the Illini Union, 1401 W. Green St., Urbana, from 11 a.m.
Six high school teams will compete to be named the state’s best at building the zaniest machine to select, clean and peel an apple.

Christy grew up in Northlake, where she attended local schools and graduated with the class of 1967 from West Leyden High School.
After graduate school, she taught for several years at West Virginia University until she moved back to the Chicago area, where she worked at Fox Valley Medical Lab in Elgin.
