	West Moors - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		West Moors is a village in East Dorset, England, on the northern fringe of the Poole-Bournemouth conurbation, just outside the larger settlement of Ferndown.
		West Moors grew up round the junction of the Southampton-Dorchester and Salisbury-Wimborne railway lines in the late 1800s, and although main line services were later diverted via Bournemouth, West Moors was served by a branch line railway till the mid 1960s.
		West Moors has a mixed population, comprising military families (mainly living on their own housing estates), a relatively high proportion of elderly people, and significant number of young families.

		Notes: The South Western's first major push westwards occurred after collaboration with Charles Castleman, a Wimborne solicitor, and the opening of 'Castleman's Snake' from Northam to Dorchester during June and July 1847.
		From Lymington Junction, Brockenhurst, the line swept through Holmsley (known as Christchurch Road until 1888), Ringwood, West Moors, Wimborne and Broadstone before continuing southwestward to Wareham and Dorchester.
		It served stations at Downton, Breamore, Fordingbridge, Daggons Road and Verwood and for much of its length followed the River Avon along the western edge of the New Forest.
