Rockhill Township was created by court order in 1740, and a road supervisor and constable were appointed soon after.

Ed Rendell, four state cabinet secretaries, and former NFL quarterback Archie Manning are among the speakers scheduled to address nearly 4,700 elected and appointed township officials, exhibitors, and guests attending the 81st Annual State Convention of the Pennsylvania State Association of Township Supervisors April 6-9 at the Hershey Lodge and Convention Center in Hershey.
Township officials from across the state will meet in Hershey these four days to share ideas about important local government issues, listen to speakers discuss topics that affect townships, and adopt resolutions that will guide the association in its legislative endeavors in Harrisburg.
The Pennsylvania State Association of Township Supervisors represents Pennsylvania's 1,457 townships of the second class and is committed to preserving and strengthening township government and securing greater visibility and involvement for townships in the state and federal political arenas.

 West Rockhill Township
As do many other communities, West Rockhill Township depends on volunteers to serve on township boards and committees. This support permits the Board to manage tax dollars, provide required services and adhere to the overall comprehensive plan.
If you or anyone you know is interested in being added to the plaque please contact the township building (215-257-9063) and provide your name, branch of the military and date range of service.  The plaque is scheduled to  be updated with additions in late Fall 2007.

The plots in Cheltenham were long and narrow and varied from 100 acres to 500 acres, the size difference being reflected in their widths.
Interestingly, the Township still retains the general shape it had three hundred years ago, which can be seen on a survey map produced by Thomas Holme.
As the dependence upon the mills dwindled and the growth of the Township continued to grow, the areas, largely wooded, that were around the creek slowly disappeared.

The history of Cheltenham, which is one of the oldest townships in all of Pennsylvania, was established as a township in Philadelphia County by fifteen English Quakers in 1683.

 LP News December 1999 - 20 Libertarians win office in state and local elections
At least 20 Libertarian Party candidates were elected in local elections around the country on November 2 -- and included in that number were a record-setting 10 victories in city council races.
Leading the victory pack were Washington state and Pennsylvania with five wins each, and Indiana and Ohio with three wins each.
John Kopcha, in a heartbreaking loss, won 49.6% in a race for Lansdowne Borough Auditor (Pennsylvania).

West Rockhill contributed about $45,000 from the township's open space fund to preserve the four properties in its borders, said Supervisor Don Duvall.
West Rockhill has about $1.2 million in its open space fund.
Additional funding for the preservation of these lands is coming from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, in the amount of $419,500, and from the William Penn Foundation, in the amount of $40,000.

Born in Quakertown, she was a daughter of the late Peter C. and Helen (Spangler) Romig.
She was a graduate of Moravian College, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, with a degree in sociology, received her Masters from Lehigh University, Bethlehem, and received her Doctorate degree from University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia.

East Rockhill officials are considering asking the Pennridge School District for money because of the frequency of police calls that come from Pennridge High School.
Pennridge High School sits in the township and is patrolled by the Pennridge Regional Police Department, a 13-person force that covers both East and West Rockhill.
But township officials argue a school resource officer would allow police to spend more time patrolling other parts of the townships and could also help spread out the costs of policing the school.

In support of the facility, East Rockhill Township along with West Rockhill Township has agreed to share the cost of interior construction.
It is anticipated the temporary facility will be used for approximately three years, at which time it will be relocated to a permanent police facility, the location of which has not been determined.
