East Sepik is a province in Papua New Guinea.
East Sepik has an estimated population of 341,583 people and is roughly 42,800 km square in size.
The remainder of the province's geography is dominated by the Sepik River, which is one of the largest rivers in the world in terms of water flow and is known for flooding -- the river's level can alter by as much as five meters in the course of the year as it rises and falls.

West Sepik Governor Carlos Yuni said yesterday the main reason for the decision was the concern that SARS may spread into PNG from Indonesia, where one person has died from the disease.
“West Sepik, being the closest province to Indonesia would be highly prone to this disease but it does not have the necessary infrastructure such as proper laboratories to carry out tests, wards or equipment in place to be able to control its spread,” he said.

For one thing, the elected MPs from the province tend to relax throughout their entire five-year term in Parliament because to advance the West Sepik interest means to come into confrontation with their varied personal interests and undertakings and, thus, will fail to serve the interest of the masses at large.
More often, these days West Sepik elected representatives and senior bureaucrats do not particularly want to assume full government responsibilities if they could gain commercial advantages by other means rather than focus their efforts in getting the projects off the ground.
Kumbakor is a dominant player in both Sepik provinces and the timing is right to give credence to his presence in Parliament.

The epicentre was 3.2 degrees south, 142.9 degrees east; on the coastline one third of the 280 km distance from Wewak, capital of East Sepik Province, to Vanimo, capital of West Sepik, and 830 km northwest of Port Moresby.
A tsunami warning was issued for the Pacific from the Philippines in the west, to Japan in the North, Marshall Islands in the east, and New Caledonia in the south.
At present damage reports are sketchy, but according to the East Sepik Provincial Disaster Coordinator, the earthquake killed 3 people and injured an as yet unknown number in Wewak Township itself, which suffered some structural damage due to the shaking rather than the effects of the small tsunami the earthquake generated.

During the trials of 6 West Sepik villagers charged with setting up a para-military force to assist the OPM, the villagers alleged that various government officials and parliamentarians had requested them to arrange the meetings with OPM leaders; several Papua New Guinea leaders were named by the villagers.

I have totally forgotten that we have elected Members of the Parliament representing us in the National Government, and I can state that I was disappointed with their current performance.
To the Governor of West Sepik, Carlos Yuni you have tried tirelessly by yourself to get these economic projects with minimal support from the other colleague MPs.
I will not stop expression my views to the media because I want the people of West Sepik to know that we have the potential resources for major economic development to improve our economic status in the province.

PORT MORESBY, July 20 (Reuters) - At least 3,000 people were killed by three huge tidal waves which devastated villages in Papua New Guinea's remote northwest, West Sepik's local governor estimated on Monday.
More than 1,000 have been confirmed dead since the tidal waves raged across a lagoon on Friday and swept away villages and people, many of them small children unable to run away or climb coconut trees to safety.
The grandfather lost all six of his grandchildren, aged from 4 months to 8 years, in a tidal wave that crushed four villages, killing at least 700 residents.
