West Virginia State scored three runs in the top of the first, but USC-Aiken answered with 11 in the bottom half of the inning and went on to an easy 14-5 victory Sunday afternoon in Aiken, S.C. Nic Biron took the loss, allowing five runs on five hits in just one-third of an inning.
West Virginia State swept a doubleheader with WVU Tech Saturday, winning the opener 5-0 on a two-hit shutout performance from Marc Atkins and edging the Golden Bears in the second game 4-3 in the 13th inning.

West Virginia Wesleyan was third with 22 points and defending champion West Liberty finished fourth at 16.
West Virginia State's John Simms, Shepherd's Chris Stambaugh, and WV Wesleyan's Matt Bowman were named tri-Coaches of the Year in a vote by their peers.

Charleston's intercollegiate football team was resumed in 2003 after a 42-year absence; the school was known as Morris Harvey College when the earlier team played its last season in 1956.
During the last few games of the 2004 season, the decal worn on the right sides of the West Virginia Wesleyan helmets was modified by the addition of the number 32 in orange; below is the clearest photograph I have received showing this alteration.
