Westcountry Television is the (additional info and facts about ITV) ITV franchise holder in the South West (of England), replacing its predecessor, (additional info and facts about TSW - Television South West) TSW - Television South West, on 1 January 1993.
Westcountry has not made any notable contribution to the ITV network, but produces mainly regional programmes such as Westcountry Live, the main evening news bulletin, as well as several regional factual series.

The region (which is now ITV Westcountry) was called simply Westcountry between 1993 and 1999, then Carlton between 1999 and 2002.
As with all other Carlton and Granada owned ITV franchises (and Channel Television), from 2002 the regional name has only been used before regional programming; the remainder of the time it is called ITV1.
In 2008, the UK plans to begin it 5-year process to cease Analog television broadcasts region-by-region with Border, Westcountry, and HTV Wales.

His doctoral thesis, The Cider Excise 1763-66, examined aspects of Westcountry government, politics and society in mid-18th century England.
He personally carries out much of the research at the Devon Record Office and Westcountry Studies Library in Exeter, but is ably assisted by carefully-chosen associates working in the archives held at Barnstaple, Plymouth and elsewhere.
