  Seattle Breakers
In 1977 the Kamloops Chiefs of the Western Canada Hockey League (WCHL) moved to Seattle and were renamed the Seattle Breakers.
The league would be renamed the Western Hockey League for the start of the 1978-79 season, and remains intact today as one of the three junior leagues which make up the CHL - Canadian Hockey League.
The leagues of the CHL are one of the main proving grounds for future NHLers, and NHL teams draft many of their prospects every year from the leagues.

The Western Hockey League is one of the three hockey Major Junior Tier I leagues which constitute the Canadian Hockey League.
When the CAHA reorganized junior hockey in 1971, it named the WCHL one of three Tier I Major-Junior leagues, along with the Ontario Hockey Association's Tier I division (now the Ontario Hockey League) and the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
The WCHL truly became a western league in 1971 when Estevan moved to B.C. to become the New Westminster Bruins, joined by expansion franchises the Victoria Cougars and Vancouver Nats.

The OHA operated its junior league until 1974, when the league became a separate entity and was renamed the Ontario Major Junior Hockey League and eventually, simply the Ontario Hockey League.
Junior hockey in Canada flourished over the years, and the OHL played a major role in the development of young hockey players, producing thousands of the country's top hockey players, from Bobby Orr to Wayne Gretzky to Joe Thornton.

Hockey Canada has released the last six players from its selection roster for the World Junior Hockey Championship, with goaltenders Jonathan Bernier and Steve Mason, defencemen Dustin Kohn and Brendan Mikkelson and forwards Cody Bass and Claude Giroux going back to their junior clubs.

Being born in 1974, all the good hockey fights were over before I was into hockey.

Dutton was discharged from the service in 1919 and upon returning home to Winnipeg he strengthened his leg by playing in seven local hockey leagues during the 1919-20 season.
Dutton was promised by the league's Board of Governors that after the war he would be given an NHL franchise to re-establish hockey in Brooklyn.
He returned to the hockey world briefly as a judge and dispute settler for the Western Canada Junior Hockey League but business interests outside of hockey kept him busy in the last half of his life.
